Our note
This is the option when a bus out to Sooke is not realistic. The published price is for the whole group rather than for each child, so a full class spreads it further than a small one. Ask what indoor and outdoor space they need before you commit.
What the children do
Camp Thunderbird staff travel to your school or community centre anywhere in the Greater Victoria area and run a teambuilding session there. The fee covers program planning, staff and all props and materials. Sessions run for three, four, five or six hours, and the published fees cover groups of up to 60 participants.
Children stay at their own school or centre and work through group games and challenges led by camp instructors, starting with simple tasks and building to harder ones that only work if the whole group co-operates.
Good to know
Everything is brought to you, including staff, planning and equipment. Ages, months and the space required are not published, so ask about all three when you enquire.
Sources disagree. Their own pages give two different answers for how many adults have to come on an overnight stay. One says one adult per nine children, the other says one per eight. We use one per eight, from their 2026 teacher booklet. Worth settling when you book, because it changes how many staff you need.
Sources disagree. The price for bringing camp staff to your school is confusing on their own page. The column is labelled as a price for each participant, but the rows are priced by group size, so it reads as a price for the whole group. We have taken it as the whole group. Confirm the total before you commit.
Sources disagree. Three different phone numbers for the camp appear across their pages. We use the one their camp page calls the new number. If it does not connect, the older camp line and the main Y office number are both still listed.
Sources disagree. The same camp address is written two ways on their own pages, one ending in ca and one in com. We use the ca version, which is what the rest of their site uses. If one bounces, try the other.
Washrooms
The three Animal Cabins have a 3-piece washroom in cabin. The yurts have a shower and washroom house nearby, and the Shrub Cabins have a shower house and outhouse nearby.
Lunch space
Day groups can choose to eat in the dining hall or bring their own lunches, which are enjoyed in a picnic area at camp.
