What it actually looks like

Our note
Students choose their own route and can stop whenever they like, which is the part nervous children need telling in advance. Ask the group host to confirm how many adults you need, because that is not published and it will shape your parent helper list. Book Monday to Thursday if the budget is tight.

What the children do

A field trip on the Classic Course, for school groups of 15 or more on the same course, ages 5 to 18. The course has three levels of obstacles that get higher and harder as students work up it, and the whole run takes 90 to 120 minutes. The minimum height is 4 feet 8 inches, or 142 cm, and the maximum weight is 300 lbs. Students shorter than that go on the Kids Course instead, and groups are often split across both. The rate is from $34.99 a student plus tax and is lowest Monday to Thursday. They say to plan on a half day, with the exact timing worked out by the group host once they know the numbers and arrival time.

Train on the ground first, then climb a ladder into the trees and work along tightropes, cargo nets, swinging logs and ziplines, moving up through three levels as they get more confident. Guides walk underneath and talk anyone who freezes through the next bit, or bring them down.
