What it actually looks like

Our note
The only date on the page has already gone by and nothing new is listed, so ask the education coordinator when the next one runs. It is aimed at seven to thirteen year olds, which is older than a daycare group, and the site does not say what it costs.
What the children do
A booked program for children run by the museum's education and public programs coordinator, with a registration form on the programs page. The one still shown is Decoding the Diefenbunker on 27 August 2026 from 1:00pm to 2:30pm, geared towards ages 7 to 13 with older children welcome and children under 7 needing an adult with them. That date has already passed and the events listing shows no upcoming dates, so the page is out of date. No price is published.
Tour the museum's Cold War exhibit, then sit down to make a cipher for encrypting secret messages, spell their own name in morse code and make a bracelet to take home.
Good to know
Indoors at the museum, with free parking and ramp access from the upper lot. No price, no upcoming date, and nothing on the site about washrooms or somewhere to eat.
Sources disagree. Their own pages give two different postal codes for the same street address. The street number is the same either way, 100 Cameron Road in downtown Nanaimo, so a satnav will still find it. We use the code that their map and their handout for teachers both give.

Wheelchair access
A standalone site beside Piper Park with its own accessible, free parking lot. The entrance doors are at the top of the righthand stairs. For ramp access, park in the upper lot and take the ramp to the doors.
