Our note
Six to a lane is the limit, so work out how many lanes you need before you look at the price. Weekday daytime is the cheapest slot. Booking ahead is recommended rather than required, but a large group is worth reserving.
What the children do
Lanes are booked by the hour and priced per lane for up to six guests. From opening to 6pm Monday to Friday a 60 minute lane starts at $39.99, 75 minutes at $49.99 and 90 minutes at $59.99. Evenings and weekends cost more. Children can wear their own clean, dry, flat soled closed toe shoes or borrow bowling shoes at no extra cost. The site says bowling suits ages 3 to 93 and that children under 3 can bowl with an adult helping and a ball ramp.
Take turns rolling a ball down a lane, with the bumpers up and a ramp to push the ball off for anyone too small to throw it. Six children share a lane, so the rest of the group waits and watches between turns.
Good to know
Indoors, free parking on site and wheelchair accessible lanes. Washrooms, lunch space and bus parking are not mentioned on the site.
Sources disagree. Their school trips page says trips start at $20 a child at the top of the page, then lists an hour of bowling at $7.99 a head further down. The cheaper figure is bowling on its own. Ask for a written quote so you can see what the $20 is meant to cover.
Sources disagree. Their Nanaimo page lists full opening hours in the questions further down, and higher up on the same page says the hours are being updated and to call. Worth a quick call to confirm the day you want.
Sources disagree. Two hidden map points on their Nanaimo page sit about three kilometres apart. The street address is the thing to trust, 171 Calder Road off the Nanaimo Parkway at Exit 18. We use the point that matches that address.
