What it actually looks like
Our note
This is the one that gets the children out among the exhibits rather than sitting in the classroom. It runs 75 minutes, which is long for a group that tires standing up, so think about where a rest fits.
What the children do
A facilitated program for grades 3 to 5. Students observe and have hands-on experiences with marine life across three habitats, eelgrass meadows, rocky shores and the open water, and look at how the animals and their habitats connect to each other. Conservation concerns affecting those habitats are discussed.
Move between three habitat areas with the educator, looking closely at live animals and handling what they are allowed to handle, then talk about which animal belongs where and why.
Good to know
Seventy five minutes indoors, up to 28 children, one free teacher and a free chaperone for every 5. Lunch is outside on the park lawn and washrooms are not mentioned on the site.
