What it actually looks like
Our note
The touch pool is open, so leave time either side to use it. The Centre notes that siblings of students cannot join a program without asking first, which catches out mixed age groups.
What the children do
A facilitated program for grades 6 to 8 investigating how endangered Southern resident killer whales interact with their environment and what they need to survive. Students explore killer whale biology, behaviour and conservation through hands-on activities involving echolocation, photo-identification and communication.
Take part in hands-on activities on echolocation and whale identification, and discuss what the resident whales need from their environment and what is going wrong for them.
Good to know
