Guided group tour of the Colwood campus
What it actually looks like
What the children do
A guided walking tour of the oceanfront Colwood campus for a class, club or organisation, taking in the university buildings, the sustainable gardens and the grounds of Hatley Park National Historic Site. Tours are requested through an online form, which asks you to select a weekday at least 10 business days from today and says tours are typically offered between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The form asks how many are coming, how long the group has available with options from up to 1 hour through to more than 2 hours, whether you would rather see the Colwood campus or the Langford campus, and how the group will travel, listing school or charter bus among the choices. When it asks the age of the group the only choices offered are grades 9 to 10, grades 11 to 12, post secondary students, adults or community group, and mixed group. Nothing on the site states a price, a fixed tour length or a group size limit.
Walk the campus on foot with a guide, past the university buildings and the sustainable gardens, on the grounds of a national historic site edged by old growth forest and ocean.
Good to know
Booked through an online form, on a weekday, at least 10 business days ahead, normally somewhere between 8:30 in the morning and 4:30 in the afternoon. Price, tour length, group size, washrooms, indoor lunch space, rain backup and coach parking are all unstated, so it is worth a call.
