What it actually looks like

Our note
This is a careers session for senior students, not a gallery activity, and no group size limit is published for it. Ask what the maximum is when you book.

What the children do

A 60 minute guided Learning Lab for grades 10 to 12, and for international and business students, on the range of jobs a museum needs, from carpenters to researchers. It runs as an introduction, a presentation about the different roles, small group discussion, then a walk into the Natural History gallery to see where those roles show up in the exhibition. Runs September to May on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Sit through a short presentation about museum jobs, talk in small groups about which ones interest them, then walk into the Natural History gallery to spot the work behind the displays and the labels.

Good to know

Indoors and step free, washrooms on every floor. No group size is published for this one, so confirm numbers before you commit.

Sources disagree. Their online session page says up to 30 people, then says to email for a webinar version if your group is over 50. If your class sits between the two numbers it is not clear which applies, so ask when you book.
Sources disagree. Two of their pages describe the hardship discount differently. One just says a discounted rate, the other says 25 per cent. Ask for the exact figure when you request it, and note there are only a few each month.

Wheelchair-accessible washrooms are located on every floor.
