What it actually looks like

Our note
A 7pm start puts this outside a daycare day, so it really suits a family outing or a group already camping in the park. It is out in the open with nothing overhead, so the weather decides it. The beachside playground is right next to the meeting spot if attention runs out.

What the children do

A free evening session run by Discover Parks Ambassadors in the Old Farm Field, a large grassy area behind the Nature House reached by a short trail. Discover Parks calls it an interactive experience suitable for all ages and gives a bear safety talk and park jeopardy as examples of what it might be. It ran on Saturdays at 19:00 through the summer season, June 13 to August 23, capped at 25 people, with walk-ins welcome and nothing to book. Look for the Ambassadors and their large orange tent in the field between the walk-in tenting sites and the beachside playground. Dogs are not allowed.

Gather in a grassy field beside a large orange tent while an Ambassador runs a talk or a quiz game about the park, such as bear safety or park jeopardy.

Good to know

It happens outdoors in a grassy field behind the Nature House, reached by a short trail. The park has toilets, drinking water, picnic areas and picnic shelters. Nothing is published about a wet weather alternative.

Sources disagree. Their own pages disagree about whether anything happens here. One says the nature house is shut until the summer of 2027. Their list of park programmes marks the free walks and children's sessions as finished, while the page for those same sessions says open and describes them meeting at that building. Worth settling with a phone call before you plan a trip out here.
Washrooms
The park's facility list includes drinking water, a playground, picnic areas, picnic shelters and pit or flush toilets.
Lunch space
The park also has a large day-use and picnicking area. Nothing says whether a group may use the Nature House itself.
