Full day field program
What it actually looks like
What the children do
The longer version of the same field-based programs, running 5 to 6 hours for a flat rate of $600 per group, taught by certified educators at sites around Tofino and Ucluelet. The same topics are available: intertidal ecology, rainforest ecology, oceanography and plankton ecology, invertebrate diversity, avian ecology and mudflat ecology. Most of them can only run at low tide, and the beach seine also depends on equipment and location. The site does not say whether a break or a lunch stop is built into the day.
Spend most of a day outdoors with an educator on the shore, the mudflats or a rainforest trail, working through one topic in depth: searching tide pools, pulling a beach seine, looking at plankton under a microscope, or identifying birds along the coast.
Good to know
A full day outdoors with a certified educator at a flat group rate. Lunch, washrooms, a rain backup, the meeting point and how many adults have to come are not published, so settle those by email first.
