Our note

Two and a half hours in a kayak is a long stretch for young children, and their page steers families with children towards a private tour instead. The only child price shown starts at age 10, so ask what they would do with a younger group before you count on this one.

What the children do

A guided kayak tour of Victoria's downtown harbour, leaving from the dock at 450 Swift Street. It runs daily year round at 1:30 PM, takes about 2.5 hours and is off the water by 4:00 PM. The published prices are $99 for an adult and $59 for a child aged 10 to 12. Their own page adds that families with children are better off booking a private tour.

Paddle a kayak out from the dock with a guide for about two and a half hours, following the waterfront and looking out for wildlife along the way.

Good to know

Nothing is published about washrooms, changing space or somewhere to eat at the dock, and they describe parking at the bottom of Swift Street as very limited. Both are worth a call before you bring a group.

Sources disagree. Two of their pages disagree about whether boat rentals at the downtown dock are running. One says rentals are available from the 1st of May onwards, another says they are closed until spring, and the home page was advertising a discount on rentals. Worth settling on the phone before you plan around a rental.

There is very limited parking at the bottom of Swift Street. City paid parking is available in any spot indicated by a blue ParkVictoria numbered pole. There's a paid lot at the top of Swift Street at 500 Store that's less than a 5 minute walk from the dock.
