Our note
Admission is charged per person with no group rate published, so a class of twenty at $5.00 each adds up before you have booked anything. Getting there means the ferry from Campbell River across to Quadra Island, which is worth building into the timing. Call before you commit, because their pages still carry a closure notice with two different reopening dates on them.

What the children do

Admission is listed as $10.00 for an adult and $5.00 for a senior, youth, student or child. They take Visa, Mastercard, American Express, debit and cash, and do not accept personal cheques. The collection is generally self-guided and staff are on hand to answer questions. Outside there is a native garden looking over Discovery Passage with a place to sit and tell stories, a touchscreen carrying stories from community elders and the history of the fishing industry, and the House of Eagles carving shed beside the garden. These prices sit on the older version of their website and carry no date.

Walk through the collection of masks and potlatch regalia at their own pace, reading and asking staff questions, then go outside to the garden above the water where they can use the touchscreen of elders' stories and look at the carving shed.

Good to know

Nothing on the site covers washrooms, an indoor lunch space or step free access, so ask about all three when you call. The collection is indoors and there is a garden outside beside the water.

Sources disagree. They keep two versions of their website and both say the centre is closed and getting ready to reopen. One gives a date in June 2025 and the other June 2026. Ring them before you plan the trip, because the ferry makes this an expensive one to get wrong.
Sources disagree. Their two websites give different email addresses. If one bounces, try the other. The phone number is the same on both, so calling is the surer route.
