What it actually looks like
What the children do
A weekly two hour art class in the MAC Studio on Thursday afternoons from 4 pm to 6 pm, for ages 7 to 15. Each week has a different project. The class opens with art games to loosen up, then a short lesson or explanation before the making starts, and over the term the children build confidence, try new materials and learn some fundamentals of art. Each date is bought separately in the online shop at $25 for one child for one session, and the maximum is 12 participants. This is a registration for an individual child, not a booking a group leader can make for a whole class, so a leader would have to buy one seat per child per date and would run out of places at 12.
Play a short art game to warm up, listen to a quick explanation of the week's project, then work at a table in the studio on that piece, which one week is watercolour ocean silhouettes and another week something else.
Good to know
Two hours in the MAC Studio, 4 pm to 6 pm on Thursdays. Nothing is published about washrooms, snacks, or whether an adult stays with the child.
