Voyages to the Coast: Sails, Savvy and the Spirit of Curiosity
What it actually looks like
What the children do
A 90 minute school program on exploration and early European expeditions to the west coast, and their impact on people, ecosystems and culture. Children then practise sea skills such as knot tying and navigation. It runs at the museum for $150 for the group, in your classroom for $200, or online for $100. Up to 30 students.
Children talk about what the word explore means to them, hear about early expeditions to this coast and what they changed, then practise sea skills by tying knots and trying navigation.
Good to know
Ninety minutes for up to 30 children, with a washroom and a baby change table on site and step free access for standard wheelchairs. There is no lunch room and nothing published about bus parking, so plan where to eat and where the bus waits.
