Furs, Forts, and Fervour: The Impact and Legacy of Contact
What it actually looks like
What the children do
A 90 minute school program on the Hudson's Bay Company and its impact on Indigenous Peoples, settlers and the land. Children examine real otter and beaver pelts, a Hudson's Bay blanket and other trade items. It runs at the museum for $150 for the group or online for $100, and is the one topic they do not bring to your classroom. Up to 30 students.
Children handle real otter and beaver pelts, a Hudson's Bay blanket and other objects from the trade, and talk about how society, economy and environment were tied together and what the company left behind.
Good to know
Ninety minutes for up to 30 children, with a washroom and a baby change table on site and step free access for standard wheelchairs. There is no lunch room and nothing published about bus parking, so plan where to eat and where the bus waits.
