Our note
This is written for university classes, so check whether they will take your group before you plan around it. It is 90 minutes outside on foot, which is a long stretch for small legs and no help in bad weather. The free pamphlet and map let you walk the same route yourself if the guided version is not available.
What the children do
A 90 minute guided walking tour of the Indigenous artworks sited across the UVic campus. Themes include passing on ancestral knowledge through art and story, Indigenous connections to land and place, and the interdependence of all things. The site says bookings are being taken for UVic classes, so a school or daycare group would need to ask whether they can join. A walking tour pamphlet, a video and an online map of the campus artworks are also published for people who want to do it on their own.
Walk around the campus on foot with a guide, stopping at Indigenous artworks outdoors and hearing the stories and teachings carried by each one.
Good to know
Ninety minutes, outdoors, on foot across the campus, booked through the curator rather than the general gallery address. The price, the group size and whether school groups can book at all are not stated.
