Saturday visit to the heritage site
What it actually looks like
What the children do
The site invites people to come by on a Saturday morning while the volunteer work party is on, watch the restoration work and ask questions. The page names what is there to see: steam Locomotive No. 11, which has been moved inside the Locomotive Shop, the Machine Shop with its blacksmith shop, lathes and large tools, the restored First Aid building, the track, a log car and the Humdirgen, which has had engine work and now runs. The restored First Aid building is used as a reception point for visitors who stop in on a Saturday. No price, visit length, group size, booking process or notice period is published, and nothing on the page is written for schools or daycares.
Walk around an old railway yard beside the harbour, looking at a steam locomotive, a log car, the Humdirgen and the old workshops, and asking the volunteers what they are fixing.
Good to know
Outdoors on an old railway yard, open Saturday mornings while the volunteers are there, with the restored First Aid building as the place visitors are met. No price, washrooms, parking, rain cover or group size is published, so ring before you take a group.
