Our note
Their own fact sheet puts the walk in from the car park at about fifteen minutes, so budget for the return leg on tired legs as well. The deck is high, open and exposed, and there is no shelter anywhere along the route if the weather turns.

What the children do

A self guided walk on the Cowichan Valley Trail out to the trestle and back. From the public parking area on Glen Eagles Road it is about 1.2 km each way on the old railway grade, which is flat, wide and surfaced with crushed gravel fines. The trestle can also be reached from the north along the same trail. There are viewing platforms, benches and a picnic area, and year round toilets at the parking lot and on the north side of the trestle. Nobody guides the visit and there is nothing published about interpretive talks or a staffed presence on site.

Walk about 1.2 km on a flat gravel trail from the car park, then step out onto the plank deck of the trestle high above the river and look down into the ravine from the viewing platforms.

Good to know

Toilets at the parking lot and on the far side of the trestle are open all year, and the route is flat gravel that takes wheelchairs and strollers. There is no indoor shelter and nothing is published about parking a bus, so it is worth a call.

Washrooms
There are accessible toilet facilities at the parking lot and on the north side of the Kinsol Trestle that are open year round.
Lunch space
The list of things on site includes a picnic area, benches, and a kiosk and pavilion. All of it is outdoors.
