Our note
This one gets genuinely muddy, so send a change of clothes and warn parents the day before. It spans preschool to grade 5, so ask them to pitch it for your youngest child rather than the middle of the range.

What the children do

A 1.5 hour facilitated visit for preschool to grade 5 about the animals, bacteria and fungi that break organic matter down into soil. The page says to get ready to get your hands dirty. Program fees include entrance into the gardens, and no dollar amount is published.

Dig into the garden soil with a facilitator to find the worms and the other creatures at work in it, and look at how bacteria and fungi turn dead plants into soil.

Good to know

Washrooms are on site and most paths take strollers. Nothing about the price, the maximum group size or the notice period is on the site, so plan a phone call before you book.
