What it actually looks like

Photos from Horne Lake Cave Tours and Outdoor Centre's website
Our note
Shorter and closer in than the school tours, which makes it the easiest one to fit around a bus schedule. There is no school rate on it, so ask the groups coordinator about the discount for ten or more before you compare costs.

What the children do

A guided trip into two obstacle based caves a seven minute hike from the visitor centre, with short squeezes and climbs, calcite formations and fossils. This is a regular public tour rather than a school offering, so the price is the public one. Groups of ten or more can contact the groups coordinator for custom tour times and 15% off regular prices.

Hike about seven minutes from the visitor centre, then in helmets and headlamps work through two wild caves, squeezing through short narrow sections and climbing over rock with a guide close by.

Good to know

A short walk and two wild caves, with no step-free route and no seating. Washrooms, lunch space and bus parking are not stated on the site, so check when you call.

Sources disagree. Two different numbers are given for their visitor centre. The school page lists one and the rest of the site lists another. Try the one on their contact page first and use the other if nobody picks up.
Sources disagree. Their own group pages give two different addresses for confirming your numbers, one starting groups and one starting education. If one bounces, try the other.
Sources disagree. The site gives two youngest ages for the Multi-Cave trip. The tour list says 8 and up, while the groups page says 5 and up. Their questions page explains the difference is a private tour, so say who is coming when you enquire.
