Our note

The boat needs 16 paddlers minimum, so a class of 25 either splits across two boats at $350 each or pads the crew with adults. The site never says the youngest age it will take in a dragon boat - ask, because this is a real boat on open water, not a pool.

What the children do

A one-and-a-half hour dragon boat session for a booked group, with an FGPC coach and steersperson supplied along with all paddling and safety equipment. Cost is $350 per boat; a boat takes a minimum of 16 and a maximum of 20 paddlers, and up to 5 boats can be booked for one session. The same $350 per boat rate is published for both general guided groups and guided school groups. School bookings require at least one adult chaperone or teacher for every ten participants. Whether the rate includes GST is not stated.

Each child takes a paddle and a lifejacket, sits in a 20-seat dragon boat with a coach and a steersperson, and paddles together as a crew on the water for an hour and a half.

Good to know

Everything on the water is supplied - boat, paddles, lifejackets, coach and steersperson - and school groups need one adult per ten children. Washrooms, an indoor lunch space, a rain plan and a minimum age are all unstated, so confirm those when you book.
