Chinatown tour for K through Grade 3
What it actually looks like
What the children do
A Chinatown walking tour for the youngest students, focused on visual symbols: the murals depicting a Chinese family, Chinese students and a Chinatown street scene, the Gate of Harmonious Interest as a way to explain feng shui, red lanterns, the upturned eaves on the Chinese Public School roof, and dragons. Includes stories well known to Chinese children that explain what is going on in Chinatown today. Cost $150 for the group.
Walk through Chinatown looking at murals, the Gate of Harmonious Interest, lanterns, rooflines and dragons, take part in a lion dance, play a Chinese game and learn to count to four in Cantonese.
Good to know
