What it actually looks like
Our note
This is the most physical thing they run and the only one written for the youngest grades outdoors. They say it can be adapted to what your group can manage, which is worth raising when you book.
What the children do
A site specific outdoor program on the ground above the No. 6 Mine tunnels, with stories and audio interviews of Cumberland miners. The museum says the program can be adapted to suit the capacity and accessibility needs of your group, and that it is weather dependent. There is a playground and there are picnic tables at No. 6 Mine Park for afterwards.
Crawl, run and collect pretend coal on the ground above the old mine tunnels, stopping to listen to recordings of miners talking about the work.
Good to know
Outdoors and weather dependent, with a playground and picnic tables at the same park. Washrooms and a wet weather plan are not stated, so ask.
