Museum tour with scavenger hunt
What it actually looks like
What the children do
A visit to the museum for a class, either led by a guide or run by the teacher. Children work through a scavenger hunt to find artifacts, photographs and information in each gallery, and the museum provides the clipboards and the hunt sheets. The museum lists it for Kindergarten to Grade 12 at 60 minutes, or a length of your choosing, for $60 a class. It is available from 15 September to 15 December and 15 January to 15 June, Monday to Wednesday, morning or afternoon. You arrange it by email.
Walk the galleries with a clipboard, hunting for particular artifacts, photographs and pieces of information in each room, either following a guide or working through the hunt on their own.
Good to know
Food and drink are not allowed inside, and the museum sits in Charles Hoey V.C. Memorial Park, which is where a packed lunch would have to happen. There is a free three hour car park just north of the train station and two hour free street parking on Duncan Street behind the museum, but nothing about coach parking, toilets or step free access is published.
