Junior Captains Camp
What it actually looks like
What the children do
A week long summer day camp at the Cowichan Bay seaside. Campers go to the beach, crab, row the Centre's wooden boats, go out in the Cowichan Search and Rescue boat, learn basic woodworking, play nautical games and do crafts. Camps run 9am to 4pm daily with no early drop off or late pickup, and only whole weeks are accepted, with no partial weeks or drop in days. The fee is $275 a week for each child, with family and sibling discounts that are not priced. The camp is aimed at ages 5 to 9 and a five year old must have finished a year of kindergarten, and one listed week is set aside for ages 9 to 12. All eight weeks listed for 2026 ran between early July and early September and all but one are marked full. Registration is by downloading a form and emailing it back, with full payment due at the same time.
Spend the day between the shore and the boats. They walk down to the beach, drop crab lines, take an oar in one of the wooden rowing boats, ride in the search and rescue boat, use basic woodworking tools and play nautical games.
