What it actually looks like

Photos from Christ Church Cathedral's website
Our note
This is the part of the site that actually works for a small, young group: outdoors, no ropes to hold, no door to be quiet behind, and nothing to book. It is on an open city lawn with no fence mentioned, so plan your adult positions accordingly, and the cathedral's own framing of it is meditative rather than a game.

What the children do

A permanent seven-circuit labyrinth on the south lawn, created by the Mission and Outreach Team as a Millennium Project and open to everyone to walk. The seven-circuit design was chosen to provide easier access for wheelchairs and walkers and to give more space for all walkers. It is a single unbroken path in and out rather than a maze. No booking, fee, opening hours or group process is stated.

Follow one unbroken path on the lawn at whatever pace suits, in to the centre and back out again, alone or beside someone else, stepping aside to pass anyone coming the other way.

Good to know

Outdoors on the south lawn, step-free enough that the design was chosen for wheelchairs and walkers, and nothing needs booking. There is no rain cover, no stated washroom and no lunch space.

Sources disagree. Their pages give different opening hours. Some list one time year round, others list shorter winter hours. Check the day you are going before you set off.
