What it actually looks like

Our note
This is the version for when getting a group out of the building is the hard part. The fee is written as covering the visit with your own materials, so ask exactly what they want you to have ready on the table before the day.

What the children do

An art educator from the gallery comes to the classroom to teach one technique or genre, with acrylic painting, self portraiture, animals in art, portfolio prep and colour theory given as examples, tied to the gallery's exhibitions and permanent collection. The fee is $110 using the school's own materials, or $100 for School District 72. The gallery describes it as one hour per class and says it can fit around the school timetable.

Stay in their own classroom and make something alongside a visiting art educator, working on a single technique such as acrylic painting or colour theory for the hour.

Good to know

This one happens in your own room, so the gallery's washrooms, parking and access do not come into it. What materials you are expected to supply is not spelled out, so ask when you email.

Sources disagree. Their home page says the gallery is open Tuesday to Sunday. Their hours page says that is the summer pattern and that Sundays stop from September 7. We use the hours page. Worth confirming before you plan anything on a Sunday.
Sources disagree. Their page describes the classroom visit as K to 12 in one line and all ages two lines later. If your group is younger than kindergarten, ask which they mean when you book.
