Our note
This is only the route if you want to reserve space or run something organised; an ordinary class walk through the park is not covered by it. Allow two months and check first whether your organisation's liability policy already covers a City park booking, because $2 million of coverage naming the City is a condition of the permit.

What the children do

A Park Permit covers private gatherings such as picnics and birthday parties, but not public events. Activities and special events proposed for Beacon Hill Park are assessed separately by Parks Division staff using an Appropriate Activity Assessment Framework, and Council approval may be necessary. Permit fees and/or deposits apply and the applicant must carry public liability insurance of at least $2,000,000 naming the City of Victoria as an additional insured. Terms are from the City's Beacon Hill Park Activity and Event Applications information sheet dated November 2022.

Good to know

Fees, deposits and an insurance certificate are required but no dollar figures are published. The application form carries the current fees. Lead time is two months for gatherings under 50 people and four months for larger events.
