Our note
This one is discussion-led, so it needs a group willing to argue a point in a public gallery. Note the museum's own rule that under-16s must be accompanied by an adult still applies.
What the children do
Curriculum-linked museum program for Grade 11 and 12 classes on Canada's contribution to the Second World War through the Commonwealth Air Training Plan. Students examine its role before, during and after the war, view selected museum displays, answer thought-provoking questions about the Plan and then debate their responses with their peers. Booked as a morning visit (10am to 12pm) or an afternoon visit (12:30pm to 2:30pm); the published rate is $8.50 per student with no charge for adult supervisors.
Work through selected museum displays answering questions about the Commonwealth Air Training Plan, then debate their answers with their classmates.
Good to know
The museum is wheelchair accessible, parking on site is free and adult supervisors are admitted free. Washrooms, indoor lunch space, maximum group size and the minimum booking notice are not stated on the site, so ask when you email.
Sources disagree. Their pages give different opening hours. Some list one time year round, others list shorter winter hours. Check the day you are going before you set off.
