Our note
The $150 is a flat fee for the class, not a per-student price, and it has to be paid in full two weeks ahead. Cancel inside 14 days and you lose it. Backpacks can't come into the exhibitions, but the front desk will lend lockable bins if you ask.

What the children do

A two-hour guided exhibition tour plus a workshop for school groups in grades 2 to 12, led by the Gallery's education staff. Offered Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:30am and 12:15pm. Every tour includes a Teacher Study Guide with background on the artists and exhibition plus pre- and post-tour activities. Booking is through the Gallery's online shop and requires two weeks' notice with advance payment.

Move through the current exhibitions with a Gallery educator, stopping to look at and talk about works in an inquiry-based conversation, then spend the rest of the two hours in a workshop. Padded benches without arms are available for seating in the exhibition spaces.

Good to know

Washrooms with a change table, free lockers and step-free ramps to every exhibition space are all on site, and the whole visit is indoors. There is nothing published about a lunch space or bus parking, so ask when you book.

Sources disagree. Their own pages give two different answers for how many adults have to come. One asks for at least 3, another allows up to 6. The 1 adult per 6 children ratio is the same on both, so settle the total when you book.
Sources disagree. Two parts of their Visit page describe the first Saturday of the month differently. One says free, the other says pay what you can. Either way it is cheaper that day.
Washrooms
Four gender-neutral single-stall washrooms, two close to the front lobby and two outside the back exhibition spaces. One washroom has a baby change table, a safety grab bar, and soap and paper towels at a lower height. The front two washrooms are available to use without paid admission.

Bus parking
One free accessible parking space across from the main entrance, and a loading zone with a curb cut-out in front of the main entrance. The parking lot is paved but uneven in places.
