Our note
This is the only option that gives a group the boat to itself, and four hours is the shortest booking allowed. Because it is priced by the hour, ask for the full total in writing before you commit. Eight guests is still the ceiling, so count your adults in.
What the children do
The whole boat booked for one group rather than shared with other passengers. The published rate is $450 per hour with a minimum of four hours and a maximum of 8 guests, so the total depends on how long you go out for. The 10 percent fuel surcharge applies to private tours as well.
Spend at least four hours on the boat with only their own group aboard, watching for whales and other marine animals from the heated cabin or the open deck at the back.
Good to know
Same boat as the scheduled tours, with a washroom, a heater and a covered cabin. The total price, whether lunch is included and whether the departure time can be moved are all things to settle on the phone.
